LCD panel price changes

In early August 2023, panel quotations will be released. According to TrendForce research data, in the first ten days of August, the prices of TV panels of all sizes continued to rise, but the rise has weakened.  The current average price of 65-inch TV panels is US$165, an increase of US$3 compared with the previous period.  The current average price of 55-inch TV panels is US$122, an increase of US$3 compared with the previous period.  The average price of 43-inch TV panels is US$64, an increase of US$1 compared with the previous period.  The current average price of 32-inch TV panels is US$37, an increase of US$1 compared with the previous period.

At present, the demand for TV panels is gradually returning to the normal level. However, regarding the panel price, the brand side and the supply side are still engaged in a tug-of-war, and the brand side expressed dissatisfaction with the rising price for several months. It is hoped that the panel price will remain at the current level, but the panel makers still hope that the price will rise a little bit more. After all, it has just risen above the cash cost, which will still put great pressure on the annual revenue.

It is currently observed in the market that consumers are more inclined to buy larger-sized TVs, such as 65 inches or more. In addition, the TV market has announced a price increase.

On the supply side, the current panel factory inventory is at a healthy level, and the overall panel utilization rate is around 70%. Once the price of TVs increases, panel makers are likely to increase the utilization rate of their production lines.

From FPDisplay’s point of view, panel prices are cyclical. After a new round of 15-month long price cuts, panel prices have generally begun to reverse upwards and are currently relatively stable.
